Hello- My name is Dottie Gums, I am the daughter of Al Gums and I am using my Dad’s write-space on the chatlist today. He calls it the chatlist, but I call it the ‘chatterlist’- Ha,ha.
As many of you know, I have been studying professional writing for the past three years and I wrote a piece for the chatlist year before last and everybody just raved about it. Said i showed real promise of being a famous writer. I write about everyday things that really interest everybody. One person comparred my writings to that of Old Henny an unknown writer from Greensboro- He owned a hotel and probably lived there too. Ha, Ha, Ha. Somebody said I might even get the Pullerlizer prize for some of my down-home writing. i sure hope so, because it is not easy to write stuff that folks will admire- ha, ha.
My instructors told me to pack as much information into a paragraph as possoble so that is what i am doing. Ha! My Mom still wears that same old navy blue polka dot dress. I declare, i am getting so tired of seeing those big white dots it makes me think my eyeballs are becomming polka dots. Ha, ha, ha. Ever since I started writing, i have started to notice nature more and more and have decided to be motovaited by what i see out there. it is so easy to make nature writings lyrical and transendal to another person that is doing the reading off the written page. I often just stop and ask myself- ‘Why is a bug” someone asked, why is a bug? Ha, ha, ha, they got me there. i had just mentioned it in one of my better poems . I guess I don’t have room here to give you all of my poems by they are really super. Like my paragrapshs, my poems carry a lot of weight. Meaningful and one might even say a little daring for these times we live in. I mean you have got to beleive that the bad times can also be the good times, because there are no other times that we have to deal with and use up. Ha, Ha,ha. My little dog “Ginger’ just loves to sit and hear me read some of my prose. Imagine that! A little dog even understands and loves my poltury. I have often wodered if pet animals really understand us, or just pretend to understand us, because they think we are stupid. I do wonder! Ha, ha, ha, ha! I noticed the sun was shining today- hard not to notice that. ha, ha. Did you know that when you can’t see the sun shining, it is not gone, it is really still there and it is because of the clouds hiding it, that you can’t actually see it, except at night when the earth is turned toward the moon and it is daylight sun in other parts of the world. imagine that! Light and dark at the same time, expet that it is not the same time- it might be daylight savings time in some parts of the world- Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha! I don’t know if you saw the ad on the chatlist the other week about men working out in a pole barn? Well I think it was sorta one sided – Cause it said for men only and those that identified as men. What kind of silly jibber jabber is that? I mean like that us gals cant erect a pole to build a barn! Darn- What about women’s liberation. Maybe we should build our own pole barn and tell the guys where to get off! Ha, Ha, ha. And dont get me wrong, my whole family wears masks. And keep our distance- Especially from me- ha, ha, ha, ha! I haven’t gotten a shot yet because of my age- but that will be soon- don’t worry your head about that. i intend to do it as soon as permitted. It was beautiful today. I noticed the peach trees on our orchard south of Siler were in full bloom. The peaches haven’t been too good for the past couple of years, but what the heck- peaches have problems too. Ha, Ha. Don’t get me wrong, we get out there and work that orchard every year. Sometimes i even have to take time out of writing on the computer to work in the fuzzy peach trees. Let me know what you think of my writing and if enough like it, I will try and write a piece every other day or so . .ha, ha, ha!
