I have been here almost 5 years and from the moment we arrived I could not get over the friendliness of the people here…and the beautiful trees and the wonderful weather…yes, there is humidity a couple months out of the year…and I love that too…I think I am part lizard…(smile)

I came from Monterey Ca. and have not missed anything about the state or the town…the traffic in that state ..OH MY Goodness!!!…and everyone in a hurry … and so unfriendly and unkind…lived all over Ca for 30years… I have not found ONE thing I do not love about this state…(well maybe the ticks) hahahahaha…the triangle area is so progressive ….even little Pittsboro with all the history and co-op and Angelinas Kitchen and the cute little down town shopping …the circle in the middle of town

I love that I can walk for miles all over town with my two little dogs at 5 in the morning with no fear.. and to have fresh air to breath and the most beautiful cool mornings no matter how warm it gets…and most of all I am so glad we have such a wonderful tool like this chatlist to help one another to find our lost animals and to give each other a helping hand in finding different services available…I hope I never get so comfortable that I forget how very blessed I am to be in this Southern Part of Heaven…(smile)..that’s what I think Pittsboro is… I just had to take a moment to brag…(smile)

Last week at the Wake-Up Wednesday community breakfast, I saw for the first time the beautiful upgrades that have occurred thus far at Pittsboro’s Community House. It’s looking terrific!

The wider exterior stairs are much more inviting and the sensitivity that’s been shown in the selection of the lighting and fan fixtures both outside and in is perfect. What a great jump start for this local architectural gem! When times are as tough as they are now, it is particularly uplifting to see care being shown to our town’s historic structures –especially when it’s done through grant funds, as this was. Thanks to all the town staff, citizen volunteers and local artisans who had a hand in bringing these improvements to reality.

For those who don’t know about the Community House, it is a historic stone structure at 65 Thompson Street a couple of doors east of Elizabeth’s Pizza built in the 1930s. It is managed by the Town of Pittsboro @ 919-542-4621 and is available to rent for meetings, receptions, parties, classes, and workshops.

Get your tickets now for a night/afternoon of compelling, thought-provoking, educational theater! Mike Wiley’s performance of Blood Done Sign My Name is coming to the Fearrington Barn in only a few short weeks and this is one show not to be missed. Mr., Wiley is an amazing storyteller. Tell your friends! Bring your (13 years or older) kids!

Fearrington is pleased to present Mike Wiley’s performance of Blood Done Sign My Name, the acclaimed memoir by Tim Tyson, in The Fearrington Barn on Saturday and Sunday, July 11th and 12th, 2009. A gifted playwright and actor, Wiley expands cultural awareness for audiences of all ages through his dynamic portrayals based on pivotal moments in African-American history. Blood Done Sign My Name tells the story of the violent reprisals following the acquittal of three men for the murder of Henry “Dickie” Marrow in Oxford, North Carolina. This compelling production acknowledges America’s painful racial history, “that our freedom and dignity, if we still have any, has been paid for in blood, that we have a contract with our ancestors not to let their sacrifices be in vain.”

The production is offered as part of Chatham County’s Community Read program, featuring Tyson’s Blood Done Sign My Name as one of the 2009 selections. For information about the Community Read program, visit:
http://www.pittsborolibraryfriends.org/index.html

July 11th, 7pm, $12 with a post-performance reception and question & answer session with Mike Wiley

July 12th, 2pm $12 adults/$6 students with valid student ID, Includes a post-performance question and answer session with Mike Wiley.
Tickets available for in-person sale at McIntyre’s Books in Fearrington Village, or online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/62753

On July 11th, come to a special pre-show dinner at the Old Granary Restaurant. With seating available beginning at 5pm, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the casual a la carte menu before heading over to the Barn for the main event! Call (919) 542-2121 for reservations.

Triangle Land Conservancy’s annual bicycle tour, Ride for the Land,
comes to Chatham County on July 11.

Ride for the Land changes locations from year to year highlighting TLC’s
different conservation focus areas across the Triangle. This year Ride
for the Land highlights TLC’s work to conserve Chatham’s beautiful
farms, which is why we subtitled this year’s ride the “Freewheeling
Farmland Frolic.”
300 cyclists will be converging on Pittsboro at 8 a.m. on July 11, then
spreading out across the county following our 30-, 45- and 60-mile
routes through some of the most beautiful land in the Triangle.
Huge thanks to the Pittsboro campus of Central Carolina Community
College for hosting Ride for the Land this year. Thanks also to Rives
Chapel Baptist Church, The Golf Zone of Siler City, and the Andrew
family of Silk Hope for hosting Rest Stops.
Speaking of Rest Stops, Ride for the Land would be a great opportunity
for Chatham individuals, civic organization or church groups to get
involved with TLC by volunteering to help out at one of our Rest Stops.
We provide everything needed; you provide the support and smiles! We
also still need some volunteers for registration, pre-ride hospitality,
and post-ride hospitality. Please contact me by email
(doug@triangleland.org) or phone (919-833-3662 ext 102) to volunteer.
Response to the ride this year has been our strongest yet, and we expect
a 300 rider sell-out. In fact, we have just a few spots left, so if you
want to ride with us, register today at www.triangleland.org/rfl.

If you’re going to mention that your item is on craiglist, you might want to provide a direct link to the craigslist post.

When you say you have, for example, a Honda Accord and we can look on craiglist for pix but you don’t give a link, your potential buyers go to craigslist and search for Honda Accords. Not only is it annoying to have to wade through 50 other Honda Accords for sale to find yours, but I’m not sure that re making people examine 50 of your direct competitors to find your listing is a good marketing strategy.

Kathy Morris

I am the current VP for NHS athletic boosters club. NHS Athletic Boosters does not have a phone soliciting campaign going on. We do not solicit funds from local business by phone. We believe in face to face conversations with the business owners in our community to ask for their support of our student athletes. We do appreciate your support in the past. We look forward to a long lasting relationship with our community in the future to help provide the athletes at NHS all the tools they need to be successful.

Thank you for your support

Northwood High School
Head Softball Coach
Boosters Club VP

Also, NHS Boosters will provide written receipts in person when a donation is given. Please contact us if you have any other problems or questions. Thank you.
