Tut, tut, Carole Henry – when, in your chat concerning “unsafe” drivers in a recent Chatlist, you talk about the above drivers. I live off of 15-501 in northern Chatham and come across people driving so fast, one would think they are racing in the Indianapolis Speedway race. Of all ages – young, mid- age and, yes, elderly. As I am waiting to get on to 15-501, I take note of these speeders and particularly their average age. And surprise! I find that it is the mid-age drivers who are almost reckless with their speed.
So don’t make a blanket statement against the elderly. If anything, they usually are in the “safe” or “slow” lane – although that can cause accidents, I doubt that they are the “speeders”. I wish tickets (more) could be given out to the above speeders but unfortunately, our Chatham Sheriffs or Pittsboro Police do not have the “man power” to park on the sides waiting for speeders.
