Subject: She did it again this year . . . and so did I!

She did it last year and now this year the same. So did I. It complicated one another’s life. She wanted her way and I needed my space.

My old shop building front porch is covered with gardening equipment and all sorts of stuff that needs to be put away or re-arranged or justthrown away. But I never get around to it. last year, i had a cardboard box with tools, seeds, whatever- A Wren found the time to secretly build a next under a pair of gloves. Not before she had laid three eggs did I discover what was going on. I tried to move the nest, but she never came back.

Now, a year later, with more junk slightly re-arranged, today i discover a new nest, larger with five eggs almost in the same spot, but this time in a gallon plastic flower pot. She had scarred the ‘zippo’ out of me when she unexpectedly flew out. We were both surprised..

I decided I just couldn’t take that for the duration of the nesting. I moved the whole flower pot, with great care, to a shelf to the back of the poach. Better for her and better for me. But would she accept the change? I waited for a few hours and walked past. Sure enough, she had found the nest and flew out just to let me know.

I really hope that all goes well for her. They work so hard to make it  happen.

Last week someone wrote me and mentioned that their friend had an albino hummingbird at a feeder. Anyone else had that happen? I would love to see a picture of that bird.
