Subject: RE: Political Signs in Pittsboro
Dear Chatlist,
I noticed that the large 4′ x 8′ Crutchfield sign is still located on Thompson Street across from the Board of Elections.
It is clear to me that the sign and others like it in the Town or its ETJ violate the political sign ordinance because they are larger than 12 square feet. (They are 32 square feet.)
So my question is twofold:
Why did the Crutchfield campaign violate this simple political sign permit? (FYI: Crutchfield is the Chief of Police of Pittsboro and wants to be our Sheriff.
And
Why does the Town require a political sign permit for elections in the first place if the permits are essentially meaningless? (I would guess that the Town does not feel this way about building permits, zoning compliance permits, etc.)
Eleanor
Great question.
