I read an interesting article in the Chatham Record about the Democratic Primary for Sheriff in Chatham County.
Apparently because the Republicans did not field a candidate for Sheriff some Republicans have changed their registration to Unaffiliated in order to vote in the Democrats’ Primary.
I am curious why no Republican filed for Sheriff.
Certainly a number of Republicans filed against former Sheriff Richard Webster over the years, so I find it odd that no Republican filed against Sheriff Webster’s handpicked and endorsed replacement, Sheriff Mike Roberson, in 2018.
In fact, the local GOP failed to file candidates in a number of races and have no competitive primaries so the GOP has no primary in Chatham County in 2018.
What happened?
