Maryphyllis,

We don’t have a commercial wind resource here in Chatham.  The odd micro turbine sometimes does OK in terms of electrical production, if you are cited atop a hill, but that is household scale power.

NC’s wind resources lie at the coast and in the mountains.  The fact that we are not harnessing them is an embarrassment–wind power being one of the fastest growing and lucrative industries on the continent.

I’m guessing that someone selling you ethical electricity is investing in wind elsewhere.

What we have here in Chatham, (apart from an awesome biofuels plant) is solar.  Any Chathamite with a tax liability should be checking out Solarize Chatham: http://solarize-nc.org/solarize-chatham/

I’ve never heard of Ethical Electric–but your instinct is spot on.  We can vote with our wallets.  We can invest in clean renewable energy instead of toxic life killing fossil sources if we want….
