Subject: Chatham County Animal Shelter Participating in Zombie-Themed Cat Adoption Event
In the weeks leading up to Halloween, animal shelters and rescues across the state of NC, including right here in Chatham County, are urging residents to arm their households with zombie-repellent cats and kittens. NC shelters feel
it is part of their civic duty to be sure at least one of these special cats or kittens are placed in each NC home.
“Since no animal shelter in NC has ever been attacked by zombies and all shelters have cats and kittens, there is a link. We feel it is a public service to provide fellow North Carolinians with this important survival information,” says Darci VanderSlik, SPCA spokeswoman. “We never know where or when the zombie apocalypse will occur. It is best to protect your family by adopting a cat or kitten from a shelter near you.”
VanderSlik acknowledges that although the zombie-repelling properties of the felines are tongue in cheek, what is fact is that pets improve peoples’ lives. “Medical studies prove time and again that pet owners lead longer, healthier lives,” says Darci VanderSlik.
The Chatham County Animal Shelter will participate in the adoption event from October 14-31. During this period, all cat/kitten adoptions will be just $20.
For more information, contact the Chatham County Animal Shelter at (919) 542-7203. The shelter is open Monday thru Friday from 11am to 4pm and on Saturdays from 8am 12pm.
