I think it is very insulting to call Granddaddy Longlegs by the name “Daddy Long Leg spiders.”
First of all, it diminishes the title earned by such an esteemed creature of nature. Why would you not want to call him “Grand”? Do you have some hidden prejudice that you slyly invoke by “forgetting” to use Granddaddy Longlegs full title? Second of all, a Granddaddy Longlegs is not a spider, so, again, I believe that you are implying something about the character of Granddaddy Longlegs by calling him a spider. Very subtle, but I was not fooled. Someone must defend those who cannot defend their own good names.
I am outraged that Gene allows these sorts of posts to continue.
