Subject: Progress and breathing
I used to have a neighbor who needed something electric in order to keep her alive, or at least, healthier than she would have been without that equipment. She was reluctant to sign up for the program Progress Energy offered to people in her condition, because she didn’t want to “cause trouble” for anyone.
She never realized that if she got herself first on the “restore power first in an emergency” list, she would be restoring power for the rest of her neighbors at the same time. Instead, we’d show up and carry her to the nearest house that still had power, or a generator, until power came back on for everybody.
If you need electrical power to live, contact the company and be sure they know that.
