Subject: BOC meeting
Monday evening, May 6th, 2011, was very interesting and informative meeting in Pittsboro. My congratulations and thank yous to all the informative speakers that voiced their plea for the concerned citizens of Chatham county. As a fairly new resident, I was not totally aware of the environmental problems that face our county and state. If we do not step up to the plate now, it will be too late and impossible for our grandchildren to help. We have got to assist our environment in every way possible. It will not and cannot take care of itself anymore, we all contributed to it’s decline.
I did some research, and it didn’t take more than a minute, to discover the past health problems of Bynum and why. Please let the environmental groups of Chatham county do their work, such an important job for the future generations. This earth has just been lent to us, be kind.
Schools, is a subject that was brushed over at this meeting. When I moved here, I was told that I would not want to send my children to county schools, either private, chartered or home schooled would be the direction. Well, my children are educated grownups and out on their own and we did not have to use the local school systems. If the county wants to attract businesses, residents with children, the schools must be improved, that is the core, education. It is the future for all of us, and we are way behind.
Thank you commissioner Kost for your detailed budget report. Your expertise advise was much appreciated, thanks for trying.
