Snowflake,

Thanks for the tick tip of duck tape around the ankles.  I’m going to give it a try.  As many of us do around here, I live in the woods, aka “tick central”.  What I have found that works for me as a repellent is the Repel lemon/eucalyptus formula repellent.  It is more natural then most and it really works great.  The bottle says it works for up to 6 hours.  I find I have to respray after 2 hours.

I haven’t found this locally so I’ve ordered it on line.  Also, for those who prefer to stay as natural as possible and don’t want to use Sevin around their house, try “Mosquito Barrier”.  It is just concentrated oil of garlic.  It works to repel ticks too, or at least it is supposed to.  Spray it all around your yard, where you want to repel the little buggers.  I have bought it but have not used it yet.  And speaking of mosquitoes,  a friend e-mailed me a tip for keeping mosquitoes away.  Get a big bottle of Listerine mouthwash and pour it into a spray bottle.  Spray the outside area you want to spend time in (the floor, door frames, etc., not the air.)  Then sit and relax, mosquito free.  It seems to work for at least a few hours at a time.  I use it when I go to sit out on my deck and read.  It works great.
