I want to give a SHOUTOUT for Doug’s Auto&Tire, inc,863 Sanford Road south of downtown Pittsboro.
We have trusted them with our vehicles for many years now. I always feel respected by the employees there. I can usually schedule work and have it completed in a reasonable time. I also feel like they care about me and my vehicle and will give me an honest appraisal of how important an issue is when it arises.
I was recently there for service and inspection. Sometimes a repair shop seems to find things they can just charge a little more for. The issues i had recently, affected not only the inspection but also safe operation. While the vehicle was there, Chris called me every day with an update. About Tuesday, he suggested that it would be ready the next morning. Next morning, he called to say that Doug had driven it after hours and said something felt off. So further checking revealed a bad ball joint. If a ball joint fails, the wheel can literally fall off. They had it on the lift that morning to complete the repair. By afternoon, i drove it home confident that a wheel was not going to fall off while i was cruising at 50 mph.
Car repairs can take time and may be expensive. And failure to repair can result in serious injury and even more time and expense. I am pleased to be able to deal with a business that works for me and looks after my best interests. I also get the impression that Doug must treat his employees with the same kind of respect. There is some occasional turnover as with most any business. And many employees seem to keep working there for years. And everyone treats me like i am important, and like my vehicle is important
