This community! A few weeks ago I put out a request to help my mother who has dementia. I was looking for a way to play music for her when we were not around. I am humbled by the amount of responses that I received…So many that I cannot respond to all, so I thought I would say it here. To the people who offered electronic suggestions, CD players, CDs, thank you. To the people who had nothing to offer but instead sent the kindest messages thank you. To sweet Sylvia, who makes “fidget” blankets and aprons to help relax your loved one, who went above and beyond and gave me one for my mom with a hug and meaningful conversation, you are a blessing. And to Julie for giving me the music box. Spending an hour and a half just talking about our moms, and life…as per our conversation over tea, you were my “God Wink”. To all of you I send my most heartfelt thanks. Always remember those of you going through this “dementia journey”. You are not alone, reach out, ask for help or advice. This community is up to the challenge and has proven to be exactly what we are all to be in life, and that is kind.
