Black History Month at the Library

A short time ago, someone posted on the Chatlist their dismay that the library in Pittsboro,  for Black History month,  had a display about the 6 known lynchings that have occurred in Chatham county.

That person claimed that there was nothing more positive in the display.  Perhaps that person only read the fine newspaper article about the display.  For the lobby showcases indeed included books and information about achievements and famous people in Black History as well.  “Black History is American History”, has been said.  To me, a  77 year old White woman, the display is the perfect mix of the  elements of any valid history – the Truth about the terrors, achievements,  sorrows and joys of people of African descent in this community and this nation.  I want to know it all . . .
