I recently read a post from Liz Cullington about Sheriff Mike Roberson on Nextdoor and I concur with Liz: Mike Roberson is the finest Sheriff we have had in Chatham County in our time in Chatham County—which for me is over 40 years.
As for the speculation about Sheriff Roberson it is just that: speculation with a dash of rumor.
Hardly different than if I claimed to have heard from a reliable coven of witches from the Devils Tramping ground in southwest Chatham claiming that candidate Globschutz is a werewolf.
And the speculation is also a bit ill informed.
For example-from what I understand a Sheriff gets vested for retirement after they serve 10 years in the position.
Sheriff Roberson needs to win this fall and serve out another term to get to 10 years.
Rumor dispelled.
I guess his opponents were looking for a silver bullet and shot a blank instead.
