Yesterday I fired off a (too) quick note and failed to explain where this new establishment is located.
The Hop is a new shop selling smoothies and specialty drinks. It is located on West Chatham St next to Willy’s Cinnamon Rolls and the ABC Store.
It’s making quite a stir on social media and my daughter asked me to take her to get a smoothie yesterday. It’s a really tiny building but I counted eight people going in and out in the fifteen minutes or so I waited out front. All wearing masks. Well, all but one.
About two minutes after my daughter went in, a fellow got out of a truck without a mask and went in. The store is too tiny to maintain six feet distance, and I could see him standing right next to my daughter.
I phoned into the store to ask if they were enforcing the mask regulations. She said yes. I asked why, then, was there a man with no mask standing right next to my daughter? She said she could not ask patrons to wear masks. I replied that as the store owner she certainly could. She replied that they would deliver my daughter’s drink outside. My daughter stepped out and they brought out her drink when it was finished.
Not a terrible response, but I’d certainly be happier if owners had a no shirt no shoes no mask no service policy.
I should have rolled down the window and asked the gentleman to please wait while I called my daughter outside, but it happened too quick to think of it.
> The Hop In Pittsboro is not enforcing masks.
> I just had my daughter exit quickly when some bubba waltzed n with no mask..

So you will criticize a small business that is probably struggling as things are, because of the actions of one customer?
