Thank you Cindy Perry for your wonderful post reflecting on positive things that have come from the recent turn of events. She brought to light many things to be thankful for, and invited us all to add to her list. I’ve also been reminded of the many positive things in my life, and would like to take her up on her invitation, and hope others will also. So here goes.
~More time to hang out and spend quality time with our kids and spouses. Sometimes this is stressful too, but in the end isn’t that why we all do yearly family vacations? So let’s cherish the time together, and have fun with it.
~Trying out those recipes that you’ve been stashing for years but never get to.
~Discovering that some of those wines in the back of my pantry that I’ve been saving for special occasions are actually pretty darn good.
~The dogs/cats are loving having their humans home all day long.
~Teaching the kids to do real life tasks. Like dishes, laundry, and gardening.
~Sharing flower bulbs and cuttings with neighbors, and having them share with me. Because now we all have time to do such things.
~Having more time to paint and other hobbies.
~As healthcare workers, we do our jobs and do not expect or need any special appreciation or recognition. But seeing the appreciation and recognition that’s come from the community during this situation has truly helped with the stress, and has been really heartwarming.
I hope that all can reflect on their own positives, as those are the things that are worth our focus.
