Sometimes we are surrounded by toxic people who suffocate us

Brad questioned the nature of who wrote my last post . I find that interesting and encouraging .  I have been working on my ability to write more proficiently to get my point across .  When I started writing post years ago on the chatlist it was the suggestion of a friend as a way for me to express myself . Believe it or not as much as I rattle off I had felt my voice was not heard or just ignored .

Sometimes we are surrounded by toxic people who suffocate us by belittling everything we say or do .  These people don’t listen and feel their truth trumps everyone else’s . They are self consumed with illusions of grandeur and self importance .  Its people like this who divide us and make us feel useless or unimportant .  All things being equal we are all important and we all matter and should have our voices heard .

I have learned I don’t have to make everyone happy nor straddle a fence to be heard .  Speaking out and being heard first starts with listening to others and hearing their unique certain point of view . When I learned to listen I found my voice .  That particular post was seeded by numerous people who feel they are not heard when voicing opinions on how this county is being run .   I listened and when I looked back I tracked down the source of the term Chatham County Taliban to a gentleman who gets this very Chatlist from Pittsboro .  If he wants to claim it I am sure he will but I assure you I wrote that last post . Things change so have I .  I am finally after all these years finding my true voice .  GM
