Many years ago, in my country antiques shop, I had beautiful red carpets. Incredible old pine furniture and accessories. One day a lady stopped in to look. She spied a crude three gallon pottery jug on the floor. Picked it up, slammed it down on the top of an old pine harvest table- badly scratching the refinished surface. I yelled at her and she immediately grabbed the jug and replied- “I’ll just put it back down on the ground.”- The ground? We were inside? The ground? Where was her mind? I have never been confused about inside and outside . . .
About a month ago, on the news, a grade school security guard was captured on camera slamming a young girl to the floor, not once, but two times. It became a big news flap- It was on every channel. Surveillance camera had captured it all- But now, get this, all the news reporters insisted on saying “he slammed her to the ground”- Not once on one channel, but many many times on several Raleigh stations.
After a few days of that, i just couldn’t take any more ‘ground’ for ‘floor’- I emailed Channel five and gave them what-ever for the mistake. Chanel five did change reports to say “floor”- but all the others that i didn’t alert, continued to say ‘slammed her to the ground.”
I had heard decades ago that the English language was going to hell, but in reality, it is being slammed to the dirt . . . .

Whether you think the inside is out or the outside is within the inner outages, take heart- No one seems to pay you no never mind . . .
