Subject: Has Casey Mann been authoring Pam Cash’s emails to the Chatham Chatlist?
Those of us who know Virginia Penley have know for years that she doesn’t write her own material. She’s been pretty well know as Randy Voller’s sock puppet and most of us suspected that Randolph Voller was writing her emails to the chatham chatlist.
Yesterday, we learned from chatlist member Leda Hartman that it now appears that the former director of the North Carolina Democratic Party under Randy Voller, Casey Mann has been writing material for Chatham Thinker and Virginia Penley.
Knowing that bit of information it’s now pretty easy to infer that Pittsboro town candidate Pam Cash-Roper has probably not been composing her own emails to the Chatham Chatlist. The Chatlist emails don’t match Pam’s personal style.
We do know that Randy Voller supports Pam Cash-Roper’s candidacy for Pittsboro Town Board. And if Randy’s friend Casey Mann is writing material for Virginia Penley is it that hard to imagine Casey Mann writing material for Pam.
And if Caey Mann is in fact doing all off this “campaign work” in support of Randy Voller’s public position, it raised questions as to why she is employed as a reporter for the local Chatham Record newspaper.
What is the position of the Chatham Record publishers Bill Horner III, Kirk Bradley, and Chris Ehrenfeld on Casey Mann freelancing as a political “consultant”? Are they at all concerned about how their readership may perceive of Ms. Mann’s “objectivity” reporting on the news? Will Chatham Record readers be able to read a Casey Mann article without considering that she might just be a mouthpiece for Randy Voller?
Randy Voller himself is an interesting phenomenon. Don’t ever get in front of Randy Voller and a TV camera. You’ll get run over. Although it was funny to see Randy get his just rewards when he was skewered nationally by Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show” (http://www.chathamjournal.com/weekly/news/nc/randy-voller-ridiculed-by-jon-stewart-130510.shtml )
After stumbling badly and failing as chairman of the North Carolina Democratic Party (https://indyweek.com/news/party-chairman-randy-voller-s-latest-ruckus-last/) Randy Voller ended his “reign of error” ( https://www.charlottemagazine.com/goodbye-mr-voller/ ). He returned to Pittsboro to play the role of a big fish in a small pond.

The latest tidbit on Randy is that now he and his white friends from Fearrington are trying to mess with the local NAACP over the issue of the confederate statue in Pittsboro. Doubt you will see much coverage of that by Casey Mann in the local Chatham Record newspaper.
