Where was Jeff Jones, planning director for the town of Pittsboro, when the  Jordan Lake One Water Association  went on the environmental awareness tour recently? If the watershed for Jordan Lake, and water quality from the watershed of the Haw River that feeds the lake, are concerns for this group, shouldn’t representatives of the town’s planning board as well as the Pittsboro town board be on board? The planning and town boards are approving massive changes to the water shed, like Chatham Park development, that will need storm water and flooding protection for the river. The dense development in Pittsboro’s ETJ will definitely impact water quality.

And Briar Chapel killing beavers instead of working with them is just another example of developers and their development schemes run amuck in Chatham County. That Polkberry Creek runs into the Haw River, too. Where will the real ducks swim if beaver dams are destroyed?

  1. I believe that Jeff Jones does an amazing job for the Town of Pittsboro. He is but one person trying to do the job of many and the fact that you expect him and the Planning Board to just drop everything because he wasn’t at a rediculous water awareness meeting, shows your ignorance and blatant disregard for his position and the Planning Board members.

Please go hug a tree elsewhere.
