Subject: Options for Broadband Internet

I hope others in the county will begin to show interest in a new internet service just beginning to start up for Chatham Country:  Open Broadband, LLC.  With Centurylink, Spectrum and AT&T trying to maintain their stranglehold on internet service for Chatham Country while refusing to extend high speed service (25 – 100Mbps) to the rural areas that need it so much, it is wise to look into options such as Randolph Communications, Consumer Cellular or Open Broadband if individual families don’t want to be left out in the cold as business, schools and personal use of internet tv, streaming and high resolution video become more and more the norm.

We should also look to the future a bit and seek out more alternatives such as this relative newcomer Open  Broadband (see at Facebook “Open Broadband” or https://www.facebook.com/Open-Broadband-LLC-1670995373200602/ ).  After starting to expand in counties around us, Open Broadband had their first meeting with the Chatham Country commissioners earlier this week. (See posts at Facebook “Broadband for Northeast Chatham County, NC”.  Also relevant is Facebook “Broadband for Chatham”).  Support and interest from us as rural internet consumers would certainly help.  From the information posted, it appears that Open Broadband could provide many of us with reasonable cost, unlimited, high speed broadband internet in the near future.

See http://openbb.net/  or email them at  .

(Disclaimer:  I am just an interested potential customer who has been watching all this develop.  I am not employed by, nor have I been paid to comment by Open Broadband.  I am simply sick of the poor, less than 3Mbps broadband provided to our community by Centurylink and others and hope to find a solution soon.)
