Subject: The Super Bowl . . .
It is indeed! It is purple plastic and holds about a cup and a half. I bought it in 1973 when I was visiting Holland. A strange souvenir to be sure, but it has been with me for all these years here in Chatham County. I used it for several years as a kitchen helper and at some point it found its way to measuring dry cat food for their meal serving.
I like it because it is bright purple and I can always spot it even tho it is somewhat misplaced in all my valued possessions. At one point, I placed it on the stove too close to a burner that was in use. The side of my little helper melted, leaving a crescent shaped ‘spout’ on that side- So much the better. Now it was a bright purple little bowl with a pouring spout on the side.
Occasionally I do miss-place my little helper and it is a royal pain. I use something else and it is just not the same. The measurement may be, but the ‘feel’ is different and the sureness of what I am doing is not comfortable. I have gone as long as four days without my little super bowl and breath a breath of relief upon finding it. Of course, it disappeared only because I was forgetful, careless or just plain stupid.
Every Sunday is super bowl Sunday at my house. Rajah, Danny, Devon, Princess and Max know that when I reach for little purple thing, food is on the way . .
The day will come when my little purple bowl will disappear and be gone for good . . . how I dread the thoughts of that day. For when it happens, confusion will get the best of me . . .. After all, they are not making that little bowl anymore- or at least not with a burned in pouring spout . . .
