Subject: It’s not about Red Team Vs Blue Team, it’s about Our Chatham – Peyton Holland – Unaffiliated Candidate
I would like to provide some clarity concerning a post that was made earlier and an image circulating that has a sample ballot marked “Paid for by Peyton Holland for Commissioner” on it. My campaign did not, has not, and will not be printing or distributing these sample ballots. As a matter of fact, my campaign has not paid for or handed out any ballots marking any candidates and does not plan to do so. This was corrected immediately.
My focus has been and will continue to be listening to the citizens of Chatham County to determine what is most important to them, what they need, and how I can help. My focus is not on telling people how they should vote in any other race (to be honest, my wife and I don’t even talk about our final decisions in the voting booth).
I encourage people to get to know the candidates for all offices and vote for who they think will represent them the best and who will listen to them. I don’t believe in voting based off of the letter that is beside someone’s name or strictly along party lines. This can’t be Our Chatham if it’s about a Blue Team or Red Team.
I am so honored to have received a tremendous amount of support and encouragement from Democrats, Republicans, and Independents throughout this race. I am appreciative of those that want to mark me on their sample ballot. They are encouraging voters to vote for someone who will represent all of Chatham County, regardless of their party.
I am not running this race to represent a party or toe a party line. I am running because I love Chatham County.
I think partisanship (both between and within parties) has caused a tremendous division in our county and prevented the collaboration that is necessary to do what is best for Our Chatham. Simply put, I am a citizen of Chatham County that is passionate about the place and people who have impacted my life. I have grown up here and I will not stand firm on any party’s line, but I will stand for what is best for Our Chatham.
I am Unaffiliated because I don’t believe this county belongs to one party or the other. I believe this is Our Chatham and I promise you that I will listen to, represent, and give voice to all citizens. I am one of you and am ready to work with you.
Sincerely,
Peyton Holland
Unaffiliated Candidate for Chatham County Commissioner
