Subject: Paul Tierney re preposition placement?
I agree with Paul Tierney’s use of a preposition at the end of a sentence, like “I’ve never heard of.” It never made sense to me to rephrase it as “Of which I’ve never heard.” Seems contrived. Whoever made up that rule must have lived back in the 1800’s when all or most of the writing had that stilted “stick to the rules” style. Difficult to go with the flow of it. So I’d say – “Hey! Nothing wrong with ending a sentence in writing like we do in speaking.” It’s all about communication, so why not? Time to change those rules.
