Subject: Controlling coyotes!
Dear Chathamites,
The more coyotes you kill, the MORE they will breed, creating MORE than are killed in replacement.It is one of their survival skills.
If you want protection for your animals get a DONKEY aka JackAss.
Coyotes FEAR THEM and the donkeys can kill coyotes by kicking.
The smell of the donkey is enough to keep coyotes away.
The donkey will BOND with the goats and will protect them as their own family.
The coyotes are hunters of opportunity.
If you do not make /allow your animals /pets to be ATTRACTIVE to them as a food source, they will not kill them.
Some believe that certain dogs will protect herds.
In my experience even Great Pyrenees can be killed by a coyote pack.
The only animal I am sure will protect a herd of goats or sheep is a Donkey aka JackAss.

The farmers of the midwest would disagree with you. Once all the central states were overrun with coyotes. But hunting teams with dogs wiped them out. There were no coyotes in the midwest for 100 years. Now they have come back.. all the way to NC.
