Subject: Pit Bull & terrier murderers
Late this afternoon, my neighbor’s llamas were attacked by 2 stray dogs… one appearing to be a pit bull/pit bull mix and the other a terrier.
The dogs mauled one of the elderly llamas, which mercifully had to be put down. Animal control was called to file a report. My husband and I were called to assist in loading the dead llama onto a trailer, and I was appalled to see the carnage; massive tissue and muscle damage throughout her body with some bones exposed, and the left ear torn off, The pit bull had since returned to the property, appearing to be interested in the three remaining llamas, yet, no appearance from animal control. Around 6:30 PM, I telephoned 911 to file a report again. The dispatcher confirmed the report had been filed yet other calls had come in during that evening, so they would get there when they could. Dispatch recommended not removing the llama’s body until Animal Control could see the situation. It is now 9:30 PM, and we are called again to move a dead body since Animal Control has not appeared, and we can’t leave this body out in the field.
SO… a couple of questions; is this a typical response for Animal Control?
Are any others finding their domestic/farm animals mysteriously mauled???? … we live about 4 miles west of Pittsboro, off hwy 64, across from the Solid Rock Baptist Church.
We will be looking for these dogs and their owners.
