Take a stand to promote literacy…together we can make a difference!
*Why is Literacy Important?*
Literacy is a human right, a tool of personal empowerment and a means for social and human development. Educational opportunities depend on literacy..
– A good quality education equips pupils with literacy skills for life and further learning
– Literacy parents are more likely to send their children to school
– Literate people are better able to access continuing educational opportunities
– Literate societies are better geared to meet pressing development
– *United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)*
*Donate $25.00 to promote literacy! THEN…*
– Receive a t-shirt, “Literacy Mattersâ€
– Wear your t-shirt all day on September 8th…to work, to school, to store, wherever!
– Meet at 7 am at the Court House in Pittsboro for a group photo and news coverage.
– T-shirt pick-up on Sept. 3rd or at the Court House on Sept. 8th
