Subject: Pittsboro’s Thursday Farmers Market- Rain or shine!
Chances are, it won’t rain- If so, most vendors have tents. The area is all paved, for EASY PARKING and EASY WALKING! The peach man was there last week with some sweet treats- Ice box watermelons and ‘silver king’ corn. Another vendor had “Silver Queen” corn- Cucumbers were there in all shapes and sizes. Same with tomatoes- A lot of field grown tomatoes are nowavailable. An astounding array of fresh greens including spinach, mustard greens and lettuce. New potatoes and carrots.
A variety of squash- including patty pan, hybrid zucchini and crooks neck- And several had fresh free range eggs. Lily Denhad meats and pet milk. Others had hand made soaps and birdhouses. Green beans freshly picked. Also okra.
Plants included Hardy Anqel Wing Begonia, Oak leaf Hydrangeas, herb ‘heal all’- Grape Holly, black elephant ear, big greenelephant ear, sweet daphne, smoke bush.
The market takes place every Thursday 3:30 pm- 6:30 pm, rain or shine. Located at The Station Complex, beside WalgreenDrug (formally Kerr)- on hyway 64, just east of the courthouse circle.
