Subject: John Talton Crutchfield, WWII veteran’s memoir

Hello all!

It’s Jessica Billings, again (the Gator from FL)! I have taken on the job of writing a memoir for John Talton Crutchfield, 96, of Chatham County. He currently resides at Twin Rivers in Pittsboro, NC. He has a wonderful story to tell about love and the war.

However, I am in need of some help! If anyone has any stories or knows interesting/random facts about Talton and/or his family, please email me with them! I would love to make those memories a part of his story. As you all may know, Talton is one of the last WWII veterans left in our neck of the woods. He was a Sergeant in charge of 300 men during WWII and participated in Normandy, Battle of the Bulge, the freeing of Luxembourg and the liberation of the concentration camps WITHOUT A SCRATCH! He was one of four remaining men when it was all said and done. I feel as though it would be an honor to him, his service and his life if I could get some great stories and memories from friends and/or family to contribute to his already amazing story. His wife, Alma, was an exceptional lady and I would appreciate someone contributing information on or about her, especially (besides information on Talton directly, of course). Thank you so much for your help!

You can email it to me at or give me a call and tell me something you remember 407 687 0785

Thanks, again!
