Joe , My sister is legally blind but she has worked because like myself we are wired to stay busy when we can . There is a limit to how much money you can make a month and still draw disability benefits . She worked part time and was able to keep the disability . She also went full time and withdrew from disability while she could work a job tailored just for her . She was later reinstated to disability when that job ran out . She also ran for 95th congressional district as a Republican in Pennsylvania several years ago . She knocked the incumbent republican out of office but the democrats won that election when Obama took the throne . As long as you keep your income documented and your in the below amounts you can keep your disability .. Once your able to maintain a higher income at full time employment you will have to withdraw until a time your not able to maintain that position or regular income . I simplified the explanation if you need it more you will need to call a disability lawyer to get specifics .
Norman . If you plan on running for office in this county you need to understand Chatham County has a history of ugly , ugly political races . You need to post here with some explanations about your disability ,your qualifications to do the job , what your platform is and you ability to hold a position as commissioner or not run at all .
I learned to be open minded the last time I got into politics in this county . I made an ass of myself and I wont do it again so bear in mind I’m not supporting or against Norman until I hear the facts . Its very hard to be an informed voter in this county with all the hearsay and wild stories that come out before elections . We as a community need to really learn to focus on what important to us as a whole and what we want done with who ever we put in office . We need to realize no one , not one is perfect . We have voted for change and pipe dreams just to realize an eloquent speaker does not a public servant make . For me its a persons track record , them being themselves good or bad consistently and their morals and integrity . Its really hard to vote but its a duty and a privilege to vote so we all need to do just that if we expect anything to improve . Goodnite Mark
