if thee falls in the forest and there is no one around, is there a sound?
The answer is yes. I said ‘thee’- not tree. Saturday I went for a walk in the woods during the beautiful sunny weather.
I lay down on some dry leaves and took a nap. I watched the birds and my two cats. The earth was damp, but I have always believed that contact with the earth is good for the body, even though it sometimes does make me feel stiff and rhumatific.
I sat for a while and contemplated a zillion things that I plan to do, without any thought of doing them. When it gets warmer- I said to myself.
All of this is not something I do infrequently. I do it in just about any weather, except rain, snow and sleet. Not the sleeping part, but the trip to the woods. It clears the mind and brings many things into perspective.
Getting back to Saturday– I had sat for more than an hour, on the ground. I tried to get up, with nothing to hold on to. I got all the way up on my feet, but the upper part of my body was not aligned with my feet and legs. I was dis-contorted. I felt a little dizzy and tried to correct my stance- lost balance and fell. I made a sound. A big sound. Even more vile sounds from my mouth.
I fell down in a sitting position, but the horrible part is, my rear end fell in a ditch, more than 10 lower than my feet. My neck did not agree with what was going on and it popped. I heard that too.
But clever me- I had eaten all those peanut butter sandwiches and such, I had a padded backside, it broke the fall. There was a noise- a plop and not a splat. Thee falling in the forest does make a sound. . .
