I am thrilled to see that Mr. Lewis of the Lawrence Group did such a fantastic job of guiding/teaching our Town Board/Mayor what the next steps are and how to go about it not only cautiously but intelligently.
After the meeting on Monday night it was apparent that our town is inexperienced in such matters but that they need to get up to speed if this town is going to grow well.
Ignorance is not a sin, but the inability to ask for help is another matter completely and our Town Board definitely asked for help last night. Yes, there are things that need to be accomplished, a timeline has been set in place, a spreadsheet on who does what next, the next step are clear and we are on our way. No longer is the question “IF” we are going to have a Chatham Park, but “WHEN” is the new word.
It was wonderful to hear Mr. Lewis say time and time again after telling our board where the plan was deficient that this is normal and we are in a good position. He stated that we are well on the way and this can be accomplished quite easily. By the way, as I’m reading all the news articles, they were quick to quote the deficiencies that Mr. Lewis pointed out but were negligent to share how he stated that these are not huge hurdles and can be done well with communication and due diligence.
I am happy to know that those who oppose Chatham Park are a non-entity. The majority of people want it to move ahead with caution and intelligence so we can have the best of the best. The question now is how long will Preston Developers wait for our town to get it together before taking next steps of their own.
