Subject: Utopian-NOT-planned communities
Re. Leela Ellis’s post about the “Utopian” Columbia, a planned community in Maryland; I grew up in a beautiful area North of Baltimore City. Columbia was the “be all, end all” in planned communities.
Years later, I moved to NC and eventually Chatham County. Enough said!
There is reason why so many northeasterners and developers are bailing and moving/developing in NC. Perhaps that mere reality should raise some eyebrows. Be careful what you ask for; Chatham too can someday look like the Washington-Baltimore corridor of “Utopia” planned communities run-amuck, and where those with financial means and job opportunities can’t get out fast enough.
