Subject: Farmers don’t get snow days! Effects of this winter on area market farmers
This has been a tough winter for market farmers trying to grow crops through the winter. Last week’s snowstorm brought immediate challenges, but that was on top of the effects of an already harsh, long winter.
I talked with several area farmers about how this winter affected their production. Several local growers had high tunnels collapse in the snow. The article includes a bunch of photos.
Read all about it and see lots of photos on Cooperative Extension’s Growing Small Farms website at: http://go.ncsu.edu/harsh-
Hopefully spring is coming soon, sure feels like it today!
Have a great weekend everyone,
Debbie
