Chatham Park Hospital would be a welcome addition to the Pittsboro community

In regard to the comments that a hospital is not needed in this area due to the close proximity of UNCH and Duke, I am under the impression this hospital will be a satellite hospital of UNCH, staffed by UNCH physicians, much like Chatham Hospital in Siler City.

The Siler City hospital is a great place to go for less critical medical conditions. If you are critical, they will stabilize you and send you on to UNCH.  A large number of people use the ER for their primary care physician, which clogs up the emergency departments of lots of hospitals.

UNCH in Chapel Hill is running out of space to expand at the current complex.  Waiting time in the ER can be hours; and waiting time for a bed for admission can take hours. Parking and traffic are a nightmare.   A satellite hospital would help alleviate some of these problems, in addition to offering more efficient medical care to the growing population.   UNCH has numerous satellite clinics all over Chapel Hill and surrounding areas to take some of the burden off the main complex.

I personally think there is a current growing need for this satellite hospital, a need that will only increase over time.
