Thank you, Donna, for your courage. Being a transplant also, dragged down here (fortunately) by a son and daughter-in-law, who is not a transplant, I have been reading about Chatham Park and I feel like I am back in the small town up North that I left several years ago. So many times business, new highways and growth were proposed in and around this town. It was shut down and kept out by those who were afraid of change and wanted to keep the small town and quiet ways. Well, first the coal mines shut down, and then the steel mills shut down and now there is nothing. People drive so very far for work, if they can find it. There is nothing there for young people. It is very sad and depressed. The town cannot get new businesses in because there is no infrastructure.

I do not get to eat out too often, but my husband and I visited Bella Donna’s for our anniversary recently, and it was wonderful. I was so excited to move here because of the local, fresh markets and great restaurants, shops, etc. I love our town. As my son teases me, “There are none so passionate as the newly converted.” And he lives in Apex, which still has a small town, lovely shops and the most beautiful Christmas tree lighting.

I understand not wanting things to change, but that is life. I saw what no changing can do. Let us all just remember, it is always about balance. Hopefully, we can find it.
