Subject: Poverty Awareness Day in Chatham County
Could you survive a month in poverty?
Find out at Poverty Awareness Day on February 8. Circles® Chatham invites you to participate in two free workshops:
Perspectives on Poverty, where you’ll hear about the scope and challenges of poverty in Chatham County and learn how individuals and organizations can work together to help people become self-sufficient.
The Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE), a simulation where you’ll get a feel for the difficulties facing low-income people by taking on the role of someone in crisis who is seeking food, shelter, and other basic necessities.
The workshops will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Saturday, February 8, at Pittsboro United Methodist Church, 71 West St., in downtown Pittsboro. At least 40 participants are needed for the simulation, so advance registration is required. The registration deadline is Monday, February 3. To register or to volunteer to help with the poverty simulation, visit www.circleschatham.org or call 919-933-9440.
