Greetings. I wanted to take a moment to thank and recognize Greg Lewis, his family, his business and the Pittsboro Roadhouse and General Store for their generosity this season with the Jordan-Matthews High School Men’s Soccer team.
This season we had a special player join us from Brazil, an exchange student Greg and his family are hosting. Gustavo “Guga†Almeida has been great to have on the team and has delighted us by teaching us some Portuguese, showing us some great Jogo Bonito moves, and generally being a great and respectful kid.
During the playoffs, the Jets had to travel more than 3 hours one way for one game and more than 5 hours for another one way. Both times, Greg supplied boxed lunches for the boys, good nutritious food to take on our activity bus that lightened the load and allowed us to arrive at our destination feeling nourished and cared for. I know it made a real difference in our game in Roanoke Rapids and our game at Kitty Hawk on the Outer Banks. Greg didn’t have to do this, but he did so knowing how long our trips would be and wanted to give something to the team that Guga had fallen in love with.
On behalf of the Jets soccer team we wanted to thank him and his wonderful family, his catering business and the workers there, and the wonderful people at the Roadhouse. His generosity is what makes Chatham County such a nice community to call home.
Thanks, Greg! And Let’s go Jets!
