Subject: Interested in Shared Housing? Join our discussion group!
The house-sharing trend has taken hold in the U.S. and beyond, and continues to grow rapidly, as many older singles – especially female “boomers” and older women – look for ways to save money, share responsibilities, feel safer, forge social connections, live more eco-consciously, have a more secure home while traveling, and form communities. Shared housing provides a unique opportunity for mature single women and men to live far better for far less.
Are you interested in discussing shared housing with others who might be considering this living arrangement? Perhaps you own a home and would like to rent a room. Perhaps you are considering renting a room in someone’s home. Or perhaps you and another unrelated individual (or two, or three) are considering renting or purchasing a home together.
Bring your ideas and your experiences as we explore the possibilities for living in community – for creating a 21st century version of the “Golden Girls” (or Guys!). We’ll discuss the pros and cons of house sharing; zoning restrictions and local ordinances; what to look for in a housemate; home sharing considerations – what to do and what not to do; necessary research; written agreements; and more.
If you are interested in participating, please send us an email with your name and contact information. Once we have a few participants, a date, time and place for our first meeting will be provided.
Many thanks – we look forward to exploring this new territory together!
