Subject: Yeaah, It’s just going to be “Walmart jobs” in Chatham Park 🙂
Opinions like this by the PittsboroMatters people just make them look childish and silly (from the BBS) “Is it expected there will be jobs other than retail once this plan is complete? I mean everyone loves a Walgreens on ever corner, but they can only employ so many”
Yawn. What a lame, intellectually lazy thought process.
We can’t possibly have a mixed use community in Chatham County. What a bad idea. Better to keep shipping people in and out of the county to work every day. Gotta fill up that empty Pittsboro-Chapel Hill magic bus.
Guess it’s too easy for some people to push the Walgreen/Walmart narrative than to take the time to do a little research. However, this is to be expected.
Below are just two quick examples of new opportunities at Chatham Park –
UNC Health Care plans to construct a medical center in the development. Chapel Hill’s Strata Solar could begin work on a 20-megawatt solar farm in the next six months, providing enough power for about 2,400 homes, the developer said.
Yeah, I know. Health Care job suck BIG time. Don’t want your kid to be a doctor, nurse or medical technician. Better to work at the Biofuel’s hazmat site.
And we can’t possibly have a 20-megawatt solar farm. That’s sure to increase global warming. And you might blind some migrating birds with the glare off the solar panels. And won’t we all get electrocuted when the sea levels reach
Chatham County?
Yeah, Like I’m going to come join the happy utopia world of the Chatham Coalition/Pittsboro Matters/Pittsboro Together “Chicken Little” crowd at the Biofuel plant where you can get a job that pays you in plenty of fake money working for the “Doctor”. #Roll Eyes
(And for those of you who will be “offended” by these observations – No worries. It’s just your natural state of being. Plus it’s the “In” thing right now. Unless you can come up with some valid counterpoints, just send your hateful email responses to me directly and save everyone else some time)
Tom
Tom, you succeeded in “blowing a lot of hair back”.
You also succeeded in ignoring factors as a large solar facility on Ferrington Road, Wal-mart on the Chatham County Line, a NEW UNC Medical Facility on 15-501, which destroyed the lovely median, and a UNC Medical Facility in Pittsboro. So, how much more do you want? I know, wall to wall asphalt, what cannot be put under asphalt, can be concreted over.
Maybe what you really need is to move to an already cemented and asphalted lot and with you head dig and hole and put your head in it.
I am on the West Coast at present. One of my favorite trips when I am here is the redwood and huge cypress parks. But their is size is only a small, small fraction of what once existed. That makes me sad. Especially said when I have to come back to the city and see 8-10 lane highways, monstrous bridges, and towering concrete and steel buildings covering what was once beautiful tall forest. It cannot be returned; it is gone forever.
We may not have the large cypress and redwoods, but we do have soaring, magnificent pines and hardwoods. And, we have the lovely smaller trees and plants. We have the abundance of wildlife which is non-existent even in the parks here. And, we are being asked to agree to destruction of that.
As for the threats of the developers- why are they threatening, for the MONEY! When you look at the silver and see their reflection, that is all you need to say NO. Does a private landowner have to right to subjugate the interest of the community and county to their greedy desires. There are many Supreme Court Cases holding they do not.
