I have to say that John Alderman’s cautionary post makes a lot of sense.

It makes me wonder.  Here we are discussing tethering options for Grand Daddy Longlegs, when there is a proposal in front of us to transform Pittsboro from a town of 4000 to one of 55,000–and no one is talking about it.

Chatham Park has proposed transforming our 7000 acres of wilderness into 7000 acres of manicured concrete.

Shouldn’t we be speaking up?  Just because they bought a bunch of land should not mean they can do what they want with it.  Shouldn’t the community they propose be shaped by what we want?

We can still work to save our water. And our night sky.  And our downtown. And our wilderness.  And our community.

Chatham Park is not a done deal.  It’s a proposed vision of what a well heeled developer thinks would be good for us.

I say we offer a counter vision.  One that includes what we want…
