Subject: Computer problems? Call Tri-Tech!!

I tried to boot up Hewey, my desktop computer, yesterday morning and instead of hearing the merry windows tune, I was greeted with a very ominous black screen with the dire message  “WARNING! SYSTEM FAN FAIL”.  I also noticed that usual whirring of the computer as is booted up was strangely silent.  I hurriedly booted up my laptop and went straight to my email in search of the Chatlist from a day or so before that began with a “Sponsor” spot from a computer repair service.  I found it, and immediately called Tri-Tech Computers over in Siler City, fully expecting to have to wait several days in agony waiting for my desktop companion to be healed (or replaced, gadzooks!)  A very happy and friendly sounding young (?) man answered the phone and when I told him what the problem was, he told me not to worry, help would soon be available.  After giving him the brand and model number of my computer, I waited on “hold” for maybe 20 seconds, and when next I heard his voice he said “we have the part you need in stock, but we can’t anybody out there today, how’s tomorrow morning look for you?” WOW!  It couldn’t look any better was my instant reply. Jody just left, and I couldn’t be more pleased!  He came in, went straight to work on unplugging all the plugs and as soon as he freed it from the nether reaches of the computer slot under my desk, he said “You may not need a new fan after all”.  My poor Hewey was being suffocated from the accumulation of dust that I had neglected to clean off on a regular basis – one of those out of sight out of mind things, and besides, Daddy didn’t raise me to be a domestic.  Anyway, since I didn’t have a can of compressed air, I plugged in my handy dandy shop vac that has a blower as well as suction, and Jody took ol’ Hewey out for some fresh air on the porch. Jody, Hewey and the shop vac played well together, and in almost no time at all, Hewey was reinstalled at his work station, beautifully dust free inside and out, booting like a champ and singing his merry windows song.  No new fan needed!!

I’m impressed!! And I’m not easily impressed.  Jody was smiling, friendly and happy thru the whole visit, wasted no time in getting right to the problem, and didn’t even start to say, well, we probably need to go ahead and replace that fan anyway, like so many other companies would have done.  Nope! He just said “don’t forget to keep the dust out of it, and it will probably be good for a long time yet.”  I’m a retiree on a fixed income (and not very well fixed at that), ya gotta love a company that doesn’t go ahead and sell you a part you don’t need, and be just as happy as you are about it.  He also told me that the rest of Hewey’s innards seemed to be in good order, and there was really no need to start shopping for a new computer.  LOVE IT!!

The short version of the story is, if you need somebody knowledgeable and honest to work on your computer, I highly recommend Tri-Tech in Siler City.  Their phone number is 919-200-6003 and their email address is
