Just wanted to make you aware of a grass-roots effort to get broadband service in rural Chatham. While you may think it odd that there’s a post on an internet list about getting broadband internet to unserved areas, it’s also about getting better broadband service to everyone in the county.

From what I’ve been able to determine, even if you have broadband, you’re probably underserved as it seems the average speeds are now about 35 Mbps – I don’t know about you but I don’t get anywhere near that at an inconsistent 2.5 Mbps!  And I say inconsistent because the service is up and down and the actual speed is variable.

cellularnews.com had a recent article about the the direct correlation between household incomes and broadband speeds which was very enlightening. The higher the speed available, the higher the income. That means much of Chatham County is being left behind financially as well as socially and our children are being deprived of the kind of education they deserve.

If you’re interested in learning more you can call or text 919-960-1795 to leave a message and someone will get back to you. Or you can request more information by email at .

Broadband internet for the whole county benefits everyone in ways of which you probably aren’t even aware!
