Since when has Chatham County gone into the business of giving free land to private organizations?

I have heard that this Guardians of Angels group, a private non-profit is asking for and expecting Chatham County to give them free land for the buidling of a new pet adoption center.

What the heck are these people thinking?

Why can groups like the Tiger Preserve and the Cat Refuge set up shop without begging for free county land. Shakori Hills didn’t get their land for free from the County.

What makes this Guardians of Angels group feel that they are just so special and precious that they deserve to receive free land? I don’t know. Do you?

I say no to this group, and any other private group when it comes to providing free land from the taxpayers of Chatham County.

In fact, if there are far too many adoptable animals in Chatham County are euthanized every year, then maybe we need to look at expanding the facilities and services at the existing county animal shelter.

I’m going to let my county commissioners know how I feel.
Their contact information is here – http://www.chathamnc.org/Index.aspx?page=34

I’m also going to let this Guardians of Angels group’s Executive Director Terry Dorsey know how I feel
His contact information: Email: Phone: 919-542-7123

How about you? Are you going to write or call? Are you going to tell them “NO FREE LAND”?
