It is sad to see that Shannon feels that those voicing opinions different from hers are just making mindless rants.

It is sad to see that Shannon is apparently part of the “No Brainer” anti-thethering group that tends to snark at, sneer at, offend and frighten those with whom they disagree with

Goodnite Mark is still my hero for speaking “Truth to the Power”. He and others have put the anti-thethering “No-Brainers” in their place!

I think there are too many people who think they know what’s best for everyone else. They feel they can force their opinions on the rest of us by playing “hardball with the commssioners” and passing unneccessary laws.

And when they find that they are losing they lash out by calling their opponents sarcastic ranters. Hmm. That’s a funny way to start an outreach program.

As Sharon mentioned in the Chatlist: “A bit of common sense should prevail. Please don’t take Timmy’s dog away just because his parents can’t afford a pen, or grandpa’s dog because he’s trying to subsist on social security. That would be cruel.”

Finally, did you notice that Shannon now also wants to license our dogs? This is the first I have heard of this idea.

Call me crazy, but instead of hiding behind sarcastic, accusing and just plain hurtful rants on the Chatlist and bulletin board, let’s get together and talk, hash this out, develop some cohesive recommendations…..like grown ups.

Let’s talk about the proposed animal adoption center—it’s a completely separate subject from tethering.

Let’s talk about animal neglect and cruelty in this county, what is currently being done and what if anything should be done in addition.

Let’s talk about tethering.

Let’s talk about spay/neuter, and licensing, and dogfighting, and dog breeding in our county.

We are all falling prey to the miasmic aspect of big government if we think spouting off on the Internet is the same as personally trying to be part of a working solution.

I do not expect this to replace the animal advisory committee, but rather allow us as Chatham County residents to do more than snark at, sneer at, offend and frighten those with whom we disagree. Nothing prevents us from developing a workable solution without government committee interference except our own egos and ignorance. I for one am hard-headed and want things my way, but I am willing to listen, and compromise, and empathize, and work toward a solution.
