Subject: Wet cell phone rescue attempt
You should draw moisture out of the phone as quickly as possible. You can let it air dry, however the methods below will work much faster and more completely. Do not dry with a blow dryer as this could melt the circuit board and other parts.
Obviously you want to remove it from the water. Make sure it is not powered up. Dry the exterior off as well as you can. Fill a bowl with uncooked rice or you can use silica desiccant packets. Lowes and many other places sell silica. Put the phone in the bowl and cover it up.
Leave your phone in the bowl for at least 24 hours and preferably 48. If luck is with you (and this mostly works) you will be able to use you phone as before. Otherwise, repairing it will likely cost you more than the phone is worth and you will probably lose the photo data anyway.
