We had bats last year and had Trutech remove the bats and seal the areas where they were hanging out. http://www.trutechinc.com They have offices in Durham and Raleigh. Apparently bats can be a challenge so there aren’t many services that will handle them. We have a log home which is even more challenging so Trutech was the only company we could find that would even come out to take a look. But you might have better luck depending on where they actually are in your house.
Although it wasn’t cheap to seal the whole house we were happy with the way they worked. Brian, the technician who did the job, was very friendly and knowledgeable. I think he came from the Raleigh office. They gave us a one year guarantee on the exclusion but the bats haven’t found a way to move back in. I think there are 4 main species in this area and we had 3 of them.
We could hear them, mainly at night and sometimes during the day. In addition to movement, they did a lot of squeaking and chattering. There was also a musty smell since a lot of bats packed into a small area aren’t especially clean.
Bat removal must be done in the Spring or Fall since they’re a protected species and can’t be disturbed while raising young. I think the protected time was May through August. Bats also migrate to Mexico or central America in the winter so if they disappear in the winter they’ll probably be back in the Spring. Winter is a good time to seal up any access points they may be using since you don’t have to worry about getting them out.
Good luck
