Mr. Kirkman, post 4678,

Yes, senators Gunn and Wade are from Alamance and Guilford counties, respectively.  They represent two urban districts effected by the Jordan Lake rules.  Possibly, they waited for an empathetic legislature before offering their bill, SB 515.  But they are not rushing it through.  The bill made the crossover cut off on May 16 and is in the agenda for consideration after committee approval.

The current legislature is staying late this year to accomplish its goals.  The list is long:

They are motivated because this is the first republican legislature since the late 1800’s, even more rare with republican givernor and lt. governor.  The conservative agenda is long because it has undergone slow accumulation under liberals for the past three decades.  There is a lot to change and undo.

Further, it is forming new tax code which will make NC competitive with other states for industry and commerce, changing the way rules and regulations are written and enforced, recreating the fairness once evidenced by our laws.

So while past legislatures slowly changed this climate, cut employment, increased taxes and regulation, made laws unfair to the general populace, where was the hue and cry then?  We simply slept through it, comforted that our lawmakers were taking care of business.  This bunch is the hue and cry and may have little time to alter the damage caused over thirty years.

Stay the course.
